Sept 21, 2009 — New York, NY — With the release date of her eagerly awaited first-ever covers album The List approaching on October 6th, acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash has announced two very special live engagements during which she will perform several of its stunning songs, giving the public intimate insight into one of America’s best-loved musical families.

Following on the heels of a triumphant presentation at the Country Music Hall of Fame© and Museum on September 15th, Cash and her band will debut three songs from the album live and over the airwaves at 93.9 FM on WNYC’s popular chronicle of music and culture, Soundcheck, hosted by John Schaefer, on September 23rd at 2 PM at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space in New York City. Her performance will simultaneously stream live as a videocast, available at www.wnyc.org/thegreenespace. The Green Space is located at 44 Charlton Street in Manhattan. Tickets are free, but seating is reserved. Register at: http://www.thegreenespace.org/thegreenespace/ticket_info.

"As longtime New Yorkers and diehard fans of WNYC, it's a thrill for us to preview The List at The Greene Space,” Cash explains. “John Schaefer, who has hosted me on his show several times, is the perfect master of this ceremony."

In addition, Cash will open the St. Ann’s Warehouse 30th Anniversary Season by performing The List on October 9th and 10th. St. Ann’s Warehouse is located at 38 Water Street in Brooklyn. Tickets are currently on-sale. Please visit www.stannswarehouse.org for more information.

The List features Cash’s contemporary interpretations of 12 classic songs culled from her list of essential country tunes that her legendary father Johnny gave her in 1973, and filtered through her own unique perspective. Produced and arranged by Grammy Award winner John Leventhal (Cash’s husband), the album includes Cash’s covers of songs written and/or recorded by The Carter Family (“Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow”), Hank Williams (“Take These Chains From My Heart”), Jimmie Rodgers (“Miss The Mississippi and You”), Hank Cochran/Patsy Cline (“She’s Got You”), Merle Haggard (“Silver Wings”), and Bob Dylan (“Girl From the North Country,” famously done by Dylan and Johnny Cash in 1969).

“Long revered as a master songwriter, Rosanne is equally talented at reinterpretation, singing with such close-to-the-bone sincerity that you can’t help but think: like father, like daughter,” says Elle magazine of The List in its 25 Essential Happenings feature.
