Elizabeth Cook and Robert Plant tied for the most nominations at three each when Rosanne Cash announced the 2011 Americana Music Association (AMA) Honors & Awards nominees yesterday at the Gibson/Baldwin Showroom.
It was the first time the Nashville-based AMA announced the nominations in New York. It has previously done so in Los Angeles and Austin, as well as Nashville.
The Honors & Awards ceremony--which will be the 10th annual one--is scheduled for Oct. 13 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. As usual, it is the centerpiece of the Americana Festival and Conference, which runs from Oct. 12 through Oct. 15 at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel. The conference consists of daily seminars, panels and networking opportunities, with the festival presenting over 100 music showcases in key Nashville music venues.
The Americana Music Association is a trade organization geared toward promoting the Americana music genre, which honors and is derived from the traditions of American roots music.
