Rosanne Cash has built her reputation on exquisite songwriting, from a run of hit albums in the 1980s that effortlessly combined art and commerce to the more intensely personal projects that have dominated the last 20 years. So she knows a thing or two about stringing words together.
Still, fans were pleasantly surprised when she began publishing narrative fiction or the occasional essay about music, and with the 2010 release of "Composed: A Memoir," it became clear that Cash’s gift for prose was out of the ordinary.
