Composed, on Tuesday and the book has been receiving glowing reviews just about everywhere. The book is not a linear biography, but glimpses into the life of a woman who has stood in the shadow of some great artists, especially her father Johnny Cash, and come out as both as a fine musician and writer.
Don't be looking for the dirt on her family or her first marriage to Rodney Crowell. This is, instead, a gentle, intelligent read about Cash's journey from childhood to the beginnings of her career in Nashville and her current home in New York, and her relationships with friends and family along the way. There's a lot of laughter, a few tears and the general feeling that you are sitting in a room with an old friend who is telling you stories of their life.
