The Incongruous CityMrs L sees and hears it on the streets of ManhattanThursday, Sept 4 My husband, Mr. L, who is no fan of dog owners in the city (it’s a long and sordid history) went outside to take out the trash and saw a dog owner, a middle-aged woman, walking away from the nice pile her pooch had just left on the sidewalk in front of our house. Mr. L, being as polite as he could manage under the circumstances of living in a city of about 100 million dogs and sidewalks that we all share, said, ‘Ma’am! You forgot to clean up after your dog!" The woman turned around and screeched at him, "YOU SHOULD PROVIDE BAGGIES" and turned and ran quickly away. I am not making this up. previous | next | back to main page |

I…I…aw hell, I got nothing.
If I were Mr. L, I would’ve been hard-pressed not to have raced after her, bellowing about her filthy habits to the entire block.
But he was too busy, I expect, trying to keep from fainting dead away.

People who don’t pick up after their pets are my BIGGEST “Pet” Peeve! Don’t blame the pet—blame the person! (I know your hubby didn’t blame the pet). Pets provide a great deal of love and comfort, but require a great deal of responsibility. Many “bad” people should not have pets, just like they shouldn’t have kids.
PS - love your music.

Hahaha! A.R.—thats hilarious. So, please tell me you installed a pole to which a box of Ziplocs is affixed. Right? RIGHT?
