He wasn’t my father, but he was to me, as American as the eagle or the flag. Very few people care or dare to live the way he did, and I am proud he lived in our country.

May the peace that surpasses all understanding be with you.

He was visionary, human, inspiring, and iconic; yet it seemed like he could find something in common with anyone. Maybe I’m romaticising him but his art really reached me. More than that though, it seemed like his heart did as well. Because of that he and the few others I hold in that lofty group set the bar for me as a writer and an actor.

Growing up, I wasn’t a country fan, but I certainly knew who Johnny Cash was. It was when I became a fan of Rosanne that I stopped, listened to and paid attention to him. What I learned about him was always intriguing, and his humility and humanity still resonate today. It’s our good fortune that Rosanne shares Johnny’s talent and integrity.

May he rest in everlasting joy.

There are no words to tell about loosing John R. Cash, the big black spot his death brings with it still each day when weaking up. He is my personal hero, he was everything and more.
There will never again be a man like him on this earth. If ever somebody would deserve to be re-born, it’s J.R.C. to me!!!
All my love, Connie

On the day John died I was working as Postamster at a small rural post office. I forsook my uniform shirt for a black button-down, and played Cash CD’s for myself and my customers all day. My own personal tribute. I am so grateful to have been acquainted with his art since I was a child in the 60’s, and his influence will be with me forever. RIP.
